HCAC members completed the Construction Training Program designed for Hispanic subcontractors to strengthen relationships with General Contractors.

April 19, 2016

Charlotte North Carolina. In this year’s program, thirteen Hispanic contractors from the Charlotte area completed the Construction Management Training program. Several well known general contractors, including Messer Construction, Rodgers Builders, Clancy and Theys, and Balfour Beatty Construction, shared valuable information with Hispanic subcontractors on how to grow their businesses and become better entrepreneurs. While Horack, Talley, Pharr & Lowndes, P. A covered important legal topics and contract negotiation.

"I enjoyed the opportunity to teach the HCAC membership participating in this program. Understanding contract law and negotiation is incredibly important to contractors. These skills can prevent costly mistakes and damage to a company” said Terry M. Brown Jr., Attorney at Law, Horack, Talley, Pharr & Lowndes, P. A.

The HCAC Construction Management Training consists of 21 hours of classroom learning. The objective is to create opportunities for GC’s and subcontractors to identify potential partners in the market and develop solid business relationships. This also makes it easier for small and medium-sized subcontractors to meet the expectations of GC’s, as they hear first-hand about their requirements.

Among the companies that supported the 2016 program are PNC Bank, Builders Mutual Insurance Company, La Noticia Newspaper, Turner Construction and JE Dunn Construction. HCAC extends a big thank you to these key partners for their continued support and contributions to the advancement of the Hispanic construction community.
