The hard work and efforts to promote the advancement of Hispanic-Owned construction businesses in the Carolinas was highly recognized this past month.

HCAC and Julian Arcila received several awards during MED Week 2015.

Charlotte, NC. October 26, 2015. The Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas received awards in four categories by three different organizations this past month, during the 2015 Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week.

Agency Diversity
Advocate of the
Year

MED Week celebrates the achievements of minority entrepreneurs and affirms government, business, and community organizations' commitment to the principle of equal opportunity. Local business owners learned about connecting their business with more opportunities during the series of events.

Diversity Agency of
the Year

The City of Durham, in partnership with multiple community, state and federal agencies as well as local businesses, observed 2015 MED Week from October 5-9, 2015. During a breakfast ceremony, HCAC was recognized as “Agency Diversity Advocate of the Year”.

The following week, on October 14, HCAC received the “Campeón Award” at the 15th Annual Hispanic Market Advantage Conference (HMAC) in Durham, NC. The Hispanic Community Champion Award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a tremendous contribution to the professional growth and development of the Hispanic community and/ or businesses.

The next day, on October 15, HCAC received the award of “Diversity Agency of the Year” presented by Charlotte MED Week 2015. In addition, a second award was presented to Julian Arcila, HCAC Executive Director, for being the “Advocate of the Year”.

HCAC Board of Directors and staff would like to express their gratitude for these distinctions and affirm their commitment to the construction industry and the Hispanic community in particular. “We are extremely proud of these four important awards.  This recognition increases our visibility in the Carolinas and motivates us to continue working hard and advocating for our members”, said Julian Arcila, HCAC Executive Director.
